Job Summary: 

Exa GmbH is the German subsidiary of Exa Corporation (NASDAQ: EXA) and is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accountant. You will be a key member of this team, having broad-based responsibilities in areas including, but not limited to: general accounting operations, accounting research, month-end close duties and compliance with SOX requirements. You will also be responsible for supporting quarterly and yearly financial audits with our Big Four firm. Responsibilities:

  • Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
  • Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
  • Manage cash collection and cash forecast
  • Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
  • Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
  • Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end close process including journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations, stat to GAAP adjustments, transfer pricing and translation
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
  • Manage payroll provider and bookkeepers
  • Participate in financial standards setting, in system implementation and in forecast process
  • Assist with tax audits and tax returns
  • Interface with external auditors on quarterly reviews, annual audit and other inquiries to ensure compliance
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
  • Adhere to the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance process related to financial reporting and disclosures
  • Liaise with our Finance VP and Finance Director to improve financial procedures

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant
  • 4-6 years of accounting experience, including Big 4 or large regional public accounting firm
  • Relevant certification (e.g. CMA or CPA) will be preferred
  • Public company/international experience in technology industry preferred
  • Competence in applying, researching and documenting adherence to US GAAP
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to take full ownership of responsibilities in a fast paced, team environment
  • Ability to plan and meet deadlines
  • Strong PC skills (advanced Excel preferred)
  • Knowledge of accounting software [ i.e. NetSuite] is a plus
